Match Preview: County return home in a purple patch

Composed by OCFC Writing Staff
Oakland County FC returns home to Royal Oak after winning back to back road games, and three in a row, to take on table-topping AFC Ann Arbor in a crucial playoff-defining match. The Purple Gang continue to prove themselves as Oakland County’s best entertainment as they continue to score at will, averaging three goals a game over the last six matches. Friday’s game kicks at 7 PM at Royal Oak High School Stadium.
OCFC’s successful road trip and season turn-around comes thanks in large part to a growing bond in the squad, and the dynamic duo of midfielder Kevin Buca and striker Keith Larson. The pair scored all six of County’s goals in the past two road games, including a hat-trick for Buca in OCFC’s 4-1 win against Lansing City Football on Monday night. The pair also had a goal a piece in County’s 2-0 win in June 17th’s win against Midwest United.

Friday’s match will be a compelling test of coach Vinnie Vasilveski’s reborn side. County look like and play like a completely different team than the squad that was defeated twice by Friday’s visitors. They’ve tightened up at the back, come together as a group, and found the scorer’s touch since those early season encounters. Will County continue their march up the USL2 Great Lakes Division table against the league leaders? Come see Friday night at Royal Oak High School, or tune in on Eleven Sports.
